It was a truly magical day.
One which we hope will remain with them for the rest of their lives.
Our special thanks to Chris Boone, Billy Differ and the rest of the CML/DMT team for making this happen.
Even though the rest of the UK was in lockdown, on 25th February 2021 four young people made their West End debut on one of the brightest stages in the heart of London’s Theatreland.
Theatre Troupe is one of the most dynamic and exciting creative community interests groups working in South London and, with the full support and encouragement of Delfont Mackintosh Theatres (DMT), the Cædmon Company made it possible to bring four of their young people in from South East London to experience what it’s like to perform live on a West End Stage.
From the moment they arrived at the theatre, the young artists were made to feel safe and welcome by the Theatre Manager and the resident team.
Emma, Steven and film-maker Mat Brooks, supported by a full technical team of lighting technicians, helped the young people realise their projects in a safe and supportive environment on one of the world’s most glittering stages – The Sondheim Theatre - home to Cameron Mackintosh’s world-famous Les Misérables.
Not only did the young people get to work with a West End performer but they also got to see what it’s like to be part of a professional production.
