It was a truly magical and transformative experience for all involved. One which we hope will remain with them, and us, for the rest of our lives.
Our special thanks to Chris Boone, Billy Differ, Anthony Redfearn, Chris Fotopoulos, and the rest of the CML/DMT team for making this happen.
In July 2021 we delivered our pilot 6-week Hero’s Journey Programme for Barnardo's - one of the UK’s leading charities that work with vulnerable children and young people who have been exposed to adverse childhood experiences.
The Hero’s Journey is a story template that many different cultures and faiths around the world have used throughout history to tell stories about how they understand themselves and make sense of the world.
No matter who tells the story it will always involve a hero who often reluctantly goes on a quest, is victorious in a crisis that has been troubling them and returns home changed or transformed.
Over the course of 6 weeks, our young people were supported in creating a piece of theatre which they performed on a stage in a theatre provided by our supporters Delfont Mackintosh Theatres in the heart of London’s West End.
Supported by a team of lightning and stage technicians and professional world-class artists, who helped further their understanding of the creative arts industry, our young people got to experience what it’s like to be part of a professional production.
